Fluke 87-5 Review

First, even Fluke: Fluke 87-5 is the best quality meters. In fact, they are mostly available only feet better. This does not mean that there are no other very good brands (such as Agilent, Hioki), or the 2 tier brands (eg, EXTECH, Meterman not) in their place - IT. But Fluke meters generally offer the best combination of data, based on better and better protection (for you and the numerator). The trick is that you pay top dollar.

The 87 meters is very hard to use widely in this area. Counters 80 series, as the 70-series that preceded them, the reputation of pursuing its accuracy and decades. They are well protected and well shielded, sealed and covered stories of surviving Fluke meters, high voltages and currents, weather and many other challenges abound.

Details on the care and react style. Fluke 87-5 is sensitive. The continuity detection, for example, is extremely quick to the point where it is difficult not trigger so as to emit a beep when the test by touching the probes, no matter how fast and try to touch them briefly together. Compare that with other instruments and any response you dawn, how easy it is to an intermittent miss. The basic accuracy is very limited in the number 80 and the positions of over 1 or 2 in most areas. Compare this with many others, where there are often 4 or more, plus 87 can in a crowd of 20,000-mode are provided, and the relative mode can be used for greater precision and when you need it .

Finally, leads 80-Series offers a lifetime warranty. Since aggressive meters Amazon on these amounts, the premium on a counter below, say, the Fluke 117 (only guaranteed for 3 years) is low enough to be worth switching to a meter better.

I had one of these work in my toolbag (use very rough) for many years now. This fluke t5 600 is a beast of a multimeter. I test everything from 6V DC to 460V 3-phase without problem. She always gives a quick reading. This thing is even more idiot-proof, as you do not need to select AC or DC current. I used this feature then in a remote area, power control (which I draw 12V AC or DC?).
One con I can think of, the generalization of the amp jaws being. I came with the son who just will not fit. This does not happen in most applications, though. I must say that this is a rock solid meter, and it has made my job easier. He leads attached, I really love. You just clip on the back of the device, the son wrap lengthwise around the counter & stuff it back in the toolbag.
I even bought one for my toolbox at home, and seem to come more often than my other counters, a Fluke 179 and a Simpson 260. It’s just a meter easy to use, and I would not recommend enough.

This fluke t5 600 does everything I need and so far (6 MB), rose in all that kind of abuse I could throw. As the reviewer mentioned above, one of its best features is that you can lock one of the probes on the back of the device and use it as a sort of large sensor – no trouble finding where to put the meter or if the research reading. The only improvement I could suggest would be a light to the LCD panel.
Of simple controls, sturdy, and looks like it was designed by someone who actually tried to use a meter at the top of a stepladder. Well worth the extra $ $.

I originally bought this fluke t5 600 based on the recommendation in question in July 2009 for Fine Homebuilding magazine, listed as a tester “reliable”.
I had problems with multimeters in the past, but never with a multimeter Fluke brand. I droped stave off the ladders onto concrete, and they still work like a champ. They work well and are so confident is the only brand test equipment that the U.S. military does not need regular calibration (but Fluke recommends an annual calibration.)

Strengths:
- The best feature (for me) is that the test lead can be plugged into the back of the device and used as a handful. This means that you can maintain the Fluke in hand with hot lead coming out of the jaw “” end while your other hand holds the other wire in place. No more trying to find a place to sit on the counter.
- “Slim Reach” tip of the probe (4mm) are flattened to allow boards to be easily inserted into the plugs. Always round, but have flat sides to them. Tips are replaceable.
- Leads to store the back of the camera.
- Beeper Audible continuity is sufficiently strong. I could even hear the noise of engine.
- The “Automatic” and “self-select” features are fast. Simply select volts, stick your probes, and you have a reading in seconds.
- Dust and water “resistant”. (I would not go swimming with her or anything.)
- Has a “battery low” indicator.
- 2 year warranty. Save that receipt!
